This piece was written in memory of the beloved cat called Caline – she was a companion to the composer for 15 years. The music is composed on a profoundly simple melody built using the letters of Caline’s name to determine the 6 notes of the main melody. The LA-Philharmonic violinist Mischa Lefkowitz discovered the original piano solo work online and contacted the composer to request that the piece be re-arranged as a violin and piano work. This nocturne is featured on the album Solstice.
